Linda Cheung brings over a decade’s experience in residential construction and spec house lending to Amplify.

AUSTIN, Texas – Today, Amplify Credit Union announced the addition of Linda Cheung as a Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer. Cheung had previously served as a Vice President for Prosperity Bank in Sugar Land, where she managed a $40M commercial loan portfolio with an emphasis on NOOCRE, OOCRE, and Spec House loans.

“Residential Construction and Spec House loans are two of the credit union’s top priorities,” Alan Jewells, VP of Commercial Lending at Amplify, said. “When we started recruiting for this role, we knew we needed someone who could anticipate the needs of builders across the state. We could not be more excited to have Cheung’s experience leading the way.”

Cheung joins the Amplify team during a period of rapid growth for the Texas housing market. According to new research from the Urban Institute, four metropolitan areas – Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio – accounted for 13.3% of the national housing supply growth from 2020 to 2025. Cheung will specialize in Spec House lending at Amplify, with a secondary focus on 1-4 family investment properties.

“Over the past few years, Texas has become a model for increasing housing inventory and easing affordability concerns for both renters and buyers,” Cheung said. “Amplify’s focus on supporting the real estate industry through Commercial Lending and Banking Services is striking, and I’m excited to further grow their presence in the Spec Housing space.”

Prior to her work with Prosperity Bank, Cheung had worked with American First National Bank from 2007 to 2017, supporting the growth of the commercial lending team as both a credit analyst and a commercial lender. Cheung is also a member of the Greater Houston Builders Association and an active volunteer with the Serve Sugar Land Volunteer program, the City of Sugar Land’s program that matches residents with volunteer requests from various city departments.
