On Sunday, November 3, the Austin American-Statesman announced its list of the 2019 Top Workplaces in Austin, and Amplify Credit Union was named as one of the Top Midsize Employers. The Austin-based credit union, which provides a combination of in-person and digital financial services to people throughout the state of Texas, finished at number 25 overall for Midsize Employers.

As part of the nomination process, Amplify team members were anonymously surveyed via email about their experiences at the credit union. In the end, Amplify received feedback from more than 160 current employees. “We’re blown away by the response rate we received,” said Amplify Credit Union VP of Human Resources Denise Hart. “Even beyond the Top Workplaces recognition, it says a lot about our culture that so many team members would feel comfortable sharing candid thoughts about their time at Amplify.”

The results placed Amplify Credit Union within the Top 25 Midsize Employers in the Austin Metro, alongside standout local organizations such as RetailMeNot, Favor, and JB Goodwin Realtors.

“We spend a lot of time discussing the kind of culture we want to create and sustain as an organization,” Hart continued. “Being named a Top Workplace in Austin is a welcome reminder that our ongoing efforts to put culture front-and-center in the workplace are a key to our success.” For Hart, this is a process that begins during New Employee Orientation, when new team members are encouraged to sit down with senior leadership and discuss the growth of Amplify’s culture with those tasked in shaping it. “We want our employees to understand from Day One that they will play a key role in making our culture more than just words on a page.”

Hart hopes that being recognized as a Top Workplace will attract creative people who may not initially believe the financial services industry is the right fit for them. It also reinforces the organizational mantra that good experiences and strong business results are not inherently at odds.

“Being recognized as a Top Workplace by the Austin American-Statesman in the same month that we crossed $1 billion in member assets is about as good a reminder as you could ask for that success and people go hand-in-hand,” Hart said. “As our CEO is fond of saying, if you take care of the people, financial success will follow. We’re certainly proof of that.”
