Austin, TX – April 19, 2019 – On a perfect spring morning, volunteers from Amplify Credit Union joined Meals on Wheels of Central Texas to gather supplies for those most in need of nutritional support. Volunteers from across Austin were able to fill hundreds of grocery bags for HOPE (Healthy Options Program for the Elderly), the monthly delivery service sponsored by Meals on Wheels that serves seniors and adults with disabilities.

Amplify volunteers formed an assembly line with stations for each of the non-perishable food items. Working as one, the team was able to complete their mission in under three hours. The end result was over 400 grocery bags to be delivered to Central Texans who are enrolled in HOPE. “It is always a great experience to help others in our community and spend time with Amplify employees,” volunteer Joanne S. explained. “Meals on Wheels is an amazing organization with so many wonderful programs. It means a lot to help them fulfill their mission.”

Meals on Wheels of Central Texas delivers daily meals to more than 5,000 seniors in Central Texas. As part of their HOPE program, they deliver shelf-stable groceries to over 600 nutritionally at-risk clients. The HOPE program is a collaboration between Meals on Wheels and the Central Texas Food Bank.
