Community Ambassador: Alex Rodriguez

Matthew MonagleFebruary 19, 2026

Finding community and creating it: a Community Loan Originator’s story of service.

Whether it’s helping a family find their first home or devoting his time to volunteering, there’s no doubt that Alex Rodriguez is passionate about his community.

Culture and Community

Alex has always been driven to strengthen his community, but he wasn’t actively involved in volunteering until he joined Amplify. Joining the Amplify team—and discovering its 40 hours of paid volunteer time—opened new opportunities for him to give back to his community in ways he hadn’t explored before.

Amplify is the first company I’ve worked for that truly encourages employees to volunteer and make a difference in their communities.”

With his community care hours, Alex now dedicates his time to spaces where his kids are involved, like serving as a PTA board member at their school, working with Habitat for Humanity, or volunteering with Mobile Loaves and Fishes. He has also used his career experience to learn about building affordable homes for families in need. His passion for community doesn’t stop here; Alex is also active in the education and empowerment space for Latinos in his community.

This past year, I volunteered with the Hispanic Impact Fund as a grant committee reviewer, which gave me the opportunity to learn about incredible organizations uplifting Latino youth. As a first-generation Mexican American, supporting initiatives that recognize and invest in our community means so much to me.”

Why Amplify?

When asked what called him to work at Amplify, Alex’s answer was simple — “the people”. He points to Amplify’s unique culture, one that empowers employees to make a real difference, as a major influence on his work. It gives him the chance to use his role not only to guide people toward achieving their dream of homeownership, but also to support them in leveraging their home’s equity for goals and milestones that truly matter.

A Standout Experience

One of Alex’s most meaningful volunteer experiences with Habitat for Humanity came when he returned to see the finished home and hand the keys to the new homeowners. He still remembers how excited the family’s youngest child, about six years old, was to finally have a room of her own.

“One of my favorite memories was returning to see the completed home and handing over the keys to the new homeowners.”

To show their gratitude, the parents cooked a homemade Mexican dish called mole for all the volunteers, creating a shared moment that felt both personal and deeply appreciated. Alex remembers, “Sharing that meal together was such a special moment.”

The day stood out not only because of the family he helped, but also because of the people he worked alongside. Volunteers from all walks of life came together, united by a shared desire to help others. “We came together from different backgrounds, but our common purpose created a bond that made the day unforgettable.”

Alex’s Advice to New Volunteers

Starting to volunteer can be overwhelming when you’re looking for an organization and trying to sign up, but Alex explained, “Start with organizations you’re already connected to–your child’s school, your church, or a local club you’re part of. Often, it’s as simple as asking, because there’s always a need in the community.”

“There are so many ways to give back, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. It all starts with asking and finding what aligns with your interests.”
