Security

At AMPLIFY, security is not taken lightly. Just like we take steps to ensure the security of our physical branches, we also have many security features in place to ensure the security of our "online branch" — Online Banking.

We've equipped Online Banking with the technology necessary to encrypt the data that is sent from our computer to yours (and vice versa). Once you've begun your Online Banking session, transfer of all data — from the time you enter your password until you log off — is performed using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) file transfer protocol and the information is encrypted with 128-bit digital certification. Encryption works as a lock by scrambling data by the use of a mathematical algorithm that can only be unlocked with a specific key. Should a packet of data be intercepted (a highly unlikely event in itself) it would be almost impossible for that packet to be decrypted and the information read.

All account information is stored behind a firewall. The Credit Union protects against unauthorized access from the Internet through the use of a firewall, which separates the outside Internet from the Credit Union's internal network. The firewall is in place to ensure that you, our member, are able to access Online Banking and that unauthorized users are not.

Your Credit Union is always reviewing the latest technology. With that in mind, we will constantly improve our security as technology allows.

We undergo yearly Electronic Data Processing (EDP) Audits. We are very pleased with the results of our audits. The main focus of the audits are Online Banking and the security measures we have in place to protect the integrity of the data that resides there, as well as general network security.

Online Banking has an inactivity timer. If you have not communicated with the Online Banking server for 10 minutes, you will be automatically logged off. This feature is there to prevent someone else from accessing your accounts in the event that you have walked away from your computer without first signing off.

Of course, a major part of keeping your information secure relies on you. There are many steps that you as a user can take to ensure your personal information remains secure and private:

  • Use a browser that utilizes 128-bit encryption.
  • Keep your password confidential. Do not tell your password to anyone and do not write it down.
  • If you use Online Banking in a public area, make sure that only you can view the information on the monitor. Keep any printed account information in a secure location.
  • If you view Online Banking using a shared or public computer, ensure that others using the computer after you cannot view your account history by clearing the cache on the computer after signing off of Online Banking. (Note: If you use one of the courtesy systems in an AMPLIFY branch lobby, the browser will be configured to not cache encrypted pages. This means no one can use the "back" button to view your account history.)
  • If you feel your password has been compromised, change it immediately by clicking on the "More" button in Online Banking and then clicking on "Change Password". Contact the Credit Union immediately if fraudulent activity is suspected.
  • Review your account transactions regularly either online or with your monthly statement.

All electronic transactions are covered by the Electronic Funds Transfer Agreement and Disclosure (sometimes referred to as a Regulation E disclosure). You were delivered a copy of this disclosure at the time you opened your account. You may request an additional copy of this disclosure by sending us an e-mail, by contacting AMPLIFY at 512.836.5901 or 800.237.5087 or by visiting the Forms & Disclosures area of this site.
