AMPLIFY has two ways to keep you covered.
Overdraft Protection
If a check is presented that exceeds the balance in your checking account, AMPLIFY can transfer funds from another account to cover the check.
If you have a savings account with AMPLIFY, and have not designated another account from which to cover the overdraft, funds will automatically be transferred from your savings account.
If you prefer, you can designate that funds be transferred from another checking account, a Money Market account, and/or a Quick Cash line of credit to protect your checking account from overdrafts. To set up overdraft protection from any of these types of accounts, rather than from savings, stop by one of our locations.
The account on which the check was written will have a zero balance, but no overdraft - and the amount withdrawn from the account(s) you designate will be the exact amount needed to cover the item, plus a nominal fee. With overdraft protection, you avoid the fees charged by the merchant for a returned check, and AMPLIFY only charges you $3 per transfer from a savings, money market or checking account. There is no fee charged for automatic transfers from a line of credit.
Privilege Pay
If you don't have an additional account at AMPLIFY to cover overdrafts, AMPLIFY offers Privilege Pay. Privilege Pay covers debit transactions, checks, ACH withdrawals, and/or BillPayer debits up to a certain cumulative amount should you have an insufficient balance in your checking account at the time these transactions occur.
With Privilege Pay, you avoid being charged an overdraft fee by the merchant, but you're still charged an NSF fee by AMPLIFY. The total amount for which AMPLIFY will cover overdrafts depends on your account usage history. Click here for more information.
How much does overdraft protection cost?
There's no charge for overdraft protection from your Quick Cash line-of-credit.
With overdraft protection from your savings, Money Market or other checking account, you pay nothing unless you use the service. And even if you do use it, the transfer fee is only $3.00 , or $30.00 for Privilege Pay — a big savings compared to insufficient funds charges and other charges you might incur from the merchant.
*AMPLIFY will normally pay overdrafts within the Privilege Pay limit, but payment is a discretionary courtesy and not a right or obligation. Please refer to our Privilege Pay policy.
