Mobile Banking Security Warning - 12/18/09
Amplify Mobile Banking used through the web browser on your phone IS SECURE. However, any downloaded application written by someone else may not be secure and could pose a risk to your financial information.
ANDROID PHONE OWNERS:
It has come to our attention that in the first and second weeks of December 2009, a phishing attack was launched from the Android Marketplace through a downloadable application by a developer called Droid09 or 09Droid.
If you have an Android phone and have installed this application:
- Remove the application from your phone and take it into your mobile provider to have it evaluated to make sure the application has been completely deleted and has not compromised any other information on your phone
- Please contact Amplify at 512-836-5901 or 800-237-5087 to be sure your account has not been compromised.
- Log into Amplify Online Banking from your desktop or laptop computer and change your passwords
Additional Risks
- A website, www.androlib.com, has been identified where these applications remain hosted.
- It remains possible that new applications of this nature could be introduced to the Android or any smart phone marketplace.
