Frequently Asked Questions

What is Instant Deposit Online?
It’s a way for you to be able to make deposits without visiting a branch or an ATM and have the check amount instantly credited to your account even before the check arrives at Amplify. Once you've made the deposit online, just send us the check so it arrives within 7 days. Simple.

Is Instant Deposit Online right for me?
If you are an honest and reliable person who prefers not to make extra trips, has better things to do than worrying about getting to a branch on time, and knows how to access a web browser, yes, this is for you. If you distrust the mail and computers, tend toward procrastination, never read the manual, or don’t pay much attention to your checking account balance, IDO is probably not your best choice. It’s a fantastic convenience, but it does require a minimal level of organization and follow-through to take advantage of.

How do I qualify for IDO?
You automatically qualify for IDO if you:

  1. Have been a member of Amplify for more than 120 days.
  2. Have an Amplify checking account and access to online banking.

If you are new to Amplify (your first account here is less that 120 days old), you can still qualify for IDO – just talk to any of our representatives or visit one of our branches. One trip could save you many more.

You will not qualify (or your IDO privileges will be revoked) if any of these apply to you:

  • The credit union has incurred any amount of loss associated with any of your accounts.
  • You have an overdraft amount outstanding for 15 days or more.
  • Your Privilege Pay benefit has been suspended
  • You are 10 or more days delinquent on a loan.

How are the deposit limits determined?
The more products and services you have with Amplify, the more you can deposit online. Your checking account and online banking access start you out with a limit of $200. The table below shows you how you can increase your deposit limit:

Having any of the services below increases your IDO deposit limit:

A Checking Account and access to Online Banking (both required to use IDO)

Having these two services gives you the minimum limit, which is $200.

Billpayer (available free)

E Statements (available free)

A Debit Card (available free)

An Amplify Credit Card

At least one Consumer Loan (ie auto, boat, line of credit, personal loan)

An additional Deposit Account with a current balance of $5,000 or more

A Home Equity or Rapid Fund Home Improvement Loan

A Home Mortgage

An Amplify Financial Services Account

Here's an example: Your checking account and online banking access start you out with a limit of $200. if you add a Debit Card, E-statements, and Billpayer service (all free) that gives you a total of 5 services, and your limit is $500. Just open a loan or a deposit account with a $5,000 balance, and your limit increases to $2,000!

If you need a higher limit that doesn't quit fit the guidelines, or you have a special circumstance, just call us at 512-836-5901 or 1-800-237-5087. Odds are we can accommodate you. We’re locally owned by you and your fellow members so as always, we’re flexible.

Can I start using Instant Deposit Online even if I am new to Amplify?
Yes, there are several ways a new member can start using IDO. Different requirements apply to new members however because, sadly, the most common occurrences of fraud occur right after new accounts are opened. To help control the risk created by fraudsters, we have to require a few extra steps for those who are just joining us. To learn more about the requirements for new members, just call us or visit a branch.

Do I have to send the check to the address specified? Why can’t it just be sent to the regular Amplify address?
Yes, you MUST send it to the specified address. Doing otherwise will result in the check arriving in the wrong place, and it will not be processed. This will result in penalties and charges to your account, so please be careful to send to the right address. That address is:

AMPLIFY

Attn: IDO #**

PO Box 81694

Austin, TX 78708

**Each time you make a deposit with IDO, the transaction is given a unique "Session ID" number. This must be included on the envelope after "Attn: IDO #". To find the number you need, just log in to IDO and click on "History". Your transactions and their Session ID numbers can be found there.

What if my check doesn't get there on time?
If you think there is a chance that might happen, the first thing to do is to contact us by phone, e-mail, or in person promptly. We may be able to accommodate a special circumstance.

If, however, your check does not arrive due to negligence or you’ve not followed the delivery instructions properly, the amount of the check will be reversed from your account, and you will be charged a $30 fee. Your IDO privileges may be revoked, and it could even result in your membership being terminated.

Do I have to mail the check? Can I just take it to Amplify later?
Yes, the check should be mailed. Mail delivery is the most reliable and accurate way to get your check processed correctly and on time. Now, some of us do not trust the mail, and would prefer to deliver the check to Amplify at a later date. It is possible to do this, but we strongly discourage it. First, it defeats the purpose of saving you a trip. Secondly, it creates more opportunities for your check to be delayed in processing. Third, it creates more chances that the check doesn’t get to us in time – life is unpredictable and you never know if you may be delayed or detoured on your way to the branch. If you must deliver your IDO check in person, it absolutely MUST be accompanied by the deposit slip provided for you to print at the time you made the deposit online. Otherwise, your check will not be processed on time.

What happens to someone who never sends the check to Amplify?
The short answer? Very bad things. First, the amount of the check will be reversed from their account. They will also pay a $30 fee. Their IDO privileges can be revoked. Their membership at Amplify can be terminated. In addition, they can be reported to local and/or Federal authorities for fraud violations. Suspected fraudulent activity is promptly turned over to the FBI.

We have dedicated staff who monitor this system constantly and who are specially trained to detect potential fraud. We are owned by our members, and they expect nothing less than complete dedication when it comes to protecting their interests. We don’t let them down. So, send the valid check on time, and all will be well.
