Identity Thieves now Targeting Personal Cell Phones

An AMPLIFY employee recently received a text message on his cell phone under the guise of the NCUA (NAtional Credit Union Administration). The message, from security @ncua.gov read: Your NCUA account is closed due to unusual activity. Call us immediately at 818-392-8413.

A reverse lookup of the phone number reveals the listing is based out of North Hollywood, CA which is NOT where the NCUA is located. Further, the NCUA would not advise anyone of accounts being closed and would not send text messages of this nature.

If you receive such a text message, it should be deleted. This is undoubtedly an attempt to collect personal and account information.
